BETA Safety Week is back for 2019

BETA Safety Week, the annual awareness-raising initiative introduced last year by the British Equestrian Trade Association, is back for 2019 to fly the flag for rider safety and the importance of safety gear that is correctly fitted, fastened and up to standard. This hard-hitting campaign, running from 27 April to 5 May, is being backed by some of the sport’s top riders and organisations, including British Eventing, the British Horse Society and The Pony Club.

BETA Safety Week 2019 LogoTaking place at the start of the main outdoor competition season, BETA Safety Week aims to encourage riders to visit participating BETA retailers for reliable and knowledgeable information and advice, along with having their riding hats and body protectors checked by trained staff.
The campaign is truly international, with retailers across mainland Europe and the United States taking part. A full list of participating BETA retail members can be found at http://www.beta-uk.org/pages/news-amp-events/beta-safety-week.php.
All participating retailers will show their support by displaying BETA Safety Week marketing material such as bunting, window stickers, hat bags, banners and selfie boards for in-store photographs.

“We are really pleased that BETA Safety Week is returning to drive home the key messages about rider safety,” said BETA executive director Claire Williams. “We had no idea how successful the campaign was going to be when we introduced it last year – the response was quite phenomenal. This time, we are moving forward, building on the firm foundations that have already been set. We know that there are other awareness-raising initiatives highlighting rider safety, but our campaign focuses clearly and effectively on the importance of a safety garment’s provenance, fit, correct fastening and appropriate safety standards.”
