New Northern Stallion Showcase attracts early interest

Stallion owners have reacted very positively to news that a new Northern Stallion Showcase is to take place on Saturday March 22 next spring at Park End Equestrian near Hexham in Northumberland.

Organised by the experienced team behind equine magazine and www.theequinesite.co.uk, the Northern Stallion Showcase will combine a high profile fixture with an innovative Showcase Guide within the March issue of equine magazine, providing a unique opportunity for stallion owners to reach both a large audience of visitors to the Showcase alongside readers of the print and digital editions of the magazine.

Emma Greenland from Ivy House Stables Stallion Centre near Penrith in Cumbria was amongst the first to confirm stallions for the Showcase, saying: "It's about time something like his happened in the north. I had contacted all my stallion owners recently and asked them what they would think about us hiring somewhere to showcase our stallions, but this has saved me the hassle - we're very excited about it!"

Sally Burns from Rachan Sport Horses near Hawick in the Scottish Borders has also confirmed stallion entries and says: "It's a brilliant concept and just what we need to showcase our stallions to northern breeders. I'm sure it will be a huge success."

Glenwood Stud at Stamfordham in Northumberland will be showcasing the international eventing stallion Take It 2 The Limit amongst its entries and Val Williams adds: "We are so pleased to have a stallion showcase of this high standard in the northern area. British Breeding needs something like this in the north, as we do have some of the best stallions of all breed types up here."

Melissa Wood from Bellegrace Stud in West Sussex will be making the trip north with her Trakehner eventing stallion Craig and Grade A show jumping stallion El Thudor. She echoes many other comments when she enthuses: "This is excellent and sounds like it's going to be a great day, I can't wait... "

"We've been working on this project for well over a year", explains equine editor Pam Harrison "and have spoken to a large number of studs and stallion owners to find out what they wanted from a Showcase event. Park End Equestrian is a lovely venue and ideally located for access from anywhere north or south. The package we've put together will ensure the stallions presented at the Showcase will be seen not only by a large audience at the event, but also by the total readership of equine magazine, which includes a national digital readership.

Park End Equestrian owner Charlotte Ridley is well known for her international eventing success, notably with Mistatiger, an eyecatching and athletic horse by the legendary stallion Java Tiger. They competed at the highest levels of the sport before Charlotte turned her attention to training, developing a client base throughout the UK. She confirms the early enthusiasm for the Showcase saying: "This is a fabulous idea and we are delighted to be hosting an event that already promises to be one of the major highlights of the spring equestrian calendar. It will be a 'must visit' for anyone interested in breeding next year."
